Hampton Street

Named after the street that houses the famous Madhouse Rehearsal rooms, Hampton Street have come a long way in a very short space of time.

Formed in December of 2005, James Merrix (drums) and Steven Whittington (lead vocals) merged with the exceptional guitar talents of Scott Kirby and Paul Kalra, with Steve Vidler performing on bass guitar. Armed with this plethora of musical ability and a combined passion to create and perform live material with their very own unique sound, Hampton Street set about writing and rehearsing in preparation for their first gig.

With ideas coming from all members, progress was rapid and within four months the band were live on stage for the first time at the Madhouse Bar in Birmingham. The gig was a great success and saw the band performing several of their own songs, to great reception. Since then, the band has been constantly rehearsing and performing at every opportunity.

They have a regular residence at the Sheldon Marquee, and have also played to a large audience at the Old Oscott club together with Lunar Mile on what proved to be a highly successful night for the band.

Since these early performances and, although the band is still relatively young, they have huge ambitions, and the talent and material to realise them. They have already finished five of their own songs - Magic Carpet, Never Forget, Too Long, Vapour Trails and Lucky Man – with many more that are nearing completion.

The band set out to create their own sound, to make powerful and melodic tunes that exploit each band members talents and take them collectively to a common goal – passionate performance of original music. In this, Hampton Street are succeeding and they continue to play ever more popular gigs as they build their fan base and continue to write new music.

Hampton Street are set to begin recording in the near future so that they can begin to spread their music to a wider audience. With so much material in the pipe line and still so much ambition, Hampton Street look forward to a bright and successful future.
